The Beauty of Downtown Manhattan

The beauty of Manhattan is never lost on me.  It's hard for me to ever see myself living in another city.  I've been working in downtown Manhattan, near Wall Street with a new web client for the last 3 weeks and I have really enjoyed exploring this part of the city.  Even though I've lived in the immediate NYC area since 1997, there are just some neighborhoods that I don't visit as often as I should or would like.  Today, the guys at work wanted to hit up Shake Shack for lunch.  It's a bit of a trek from our office, but "it's worth it" they said.  Here's the promenade we walked passed on our way to the burger joint.  This is on the West Side of downtown NYC.  The skyline in the background is Jersey City, NJ.
As if the beauty of the skyline wasn't pretty enough, check out the plantings!
How about a better view?  This seriously stopped me in mid-step!  How incredible is this tulip display?  Thousands upon thousands of tulips!  And I thought yesterday's post was outstanding, this one is stunning!  This photo really doesn't even do it justice.  I had that song, "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" singing in my head as I walked passed this gorgeous display.  Now I understand what that song really means!
It was a 30 minute walk to Shake Shack from our office.  I recently made a lifestyle change to become a pescetarian / vegetarian as part of my commitment to Going Greener in 2012.  There is only one vegetarian option on Shake Shack's menu.  It's what they call a mushroom burger, a portabello mushroom stuffed with cheese.  Since I didn't eat a "real" burger, I allowed myself to eat it  with a side of fries and a cremesicle shake! hahahahaa!  Delicious!

  2. Mimi - thanks for stopping to take the tulip pic! Is there anything more pretty than a hedge row of boxwood with tulips just beyond? I wish I had a big fat budget to spend on boxwoods, I would buy about 60 to line the front yard planting bed, they always make everything look so tidy with their clean lines.
