Garlic Is Growing Well

I love walking around the yard to see which plants are thriving. Here's the garlic bed, which has grown a lot since the last time I wrote about it. It looks like it has doubled in size.  I just absolutely love how healthy everything looks!  For those of you that grow hardneck garlic, when should we be expecting scapes to grow?

  1. Wow, your garlic is looking great! Last year I had scapes in mid and late May.

  2. Our scapes popped up beginning of May last year if I remember right.

  3. Your garlic looks good. Such a rewarding plant.
I don't remember when I cut my scapes last year. I'm sure it varies from one area to another as it is all about when the plants are ready.

  4. Besides garlic, what else are you planning on growing this year? Are you planning any other vegetables?

  6. Garlic scapes come pretty late in the season. I usually see them about two months or so prior to harvesting. What variety did you choose to grow?

  7. I don't grow garlic but if I did, I'd want it to look exactly like yours!

  8. Can't help you there, since I've never grown it before but it looks like it shouldn't be too much longer now. :)

  9. Garlic is the only thing in the Back 40 right now that's there because I put it there. Wind, birds, etc., have done some other work, though.

  10. I just planted mine last fall. They've come up an inch or so........so far. No idea about when to harvest either, so I will be following your garlic experience:)

  11. Yours looks just like mine! I can't wait until we get to have pics of it dried and smelling it every time we walk by it curing, my favorite smell!

  12. I don't always see scapes. I guess sometimes a lot of rain messes things up for my garlic. A good garlic year usually means scapes around late May, early June.

  13. Grow them these last 2 years but never did harvest them. They look so healthy.

  14. My garlic is out of control. It's lining my parent's house - the entire side! It just keeps multiplying like crazy. But it rules!
