From time to time I write about my husband's parent's family farm, Heritage Homestead. I received an email 2 days ago letting us know that one of their horses, Jill, a gorgeous Black Percheron, gave birth to a healthy colt. Isn't he just beautiful? His name is Mandela. Look at that adorable face!
We hear that Jill is a great mommy. She looks after him with a watchful eye. I love this photo, he is so tiny compared to his mommy!
Look at those long legs, he's going to grow up to be a large draft horse. All the horses on the farm are working horses, they have chores just like the humans. They pull plows and other farm machinery to work the fields. In exchange, the horses get lots of love, hay, and treats!
We can't wait to meet him! Too cute!
Oh, I love BIG horses. If we were ever to get a horse, it would definitely be a draft horse. I'm partial to Belgians, personally.
