This is my most colorful harvest to date. I just love this colander full of pretty colored vegetables.
I had a difficult time growing carrots. These were in the ground for two months. Look how stumpy they are! Hahahaha.
Here's a close-up of the carrots. One of them looks like a hand.
We also harvested our one and only broccoli we grew. We harvested this one because it was bolting. Out of 6 plants only one produced a crown. Next year, must add some organic fertilizer. Better luck next year.
See what others are harvesting at Daphne Dandelions.
I was thinking it looked like Buddha's hand.
ReplyDeleteCool. Congrats to you.
Weird hand carrot! High 5 I guess ;) Your habeneros are beautiful
ReplyDeleteI wonder what causes carrots to do that?
ReplyDeleteThat is a colorful crop. Did you go ahead and eat the carrots and broccoli? I've had some like that before.
ReplyDeleteThose really are some mutant carrots :)
ReplyDeleteWe have a hard time growing carrots as well. Most of the ones we grow say they should be harvestable at around 70-80 days but ours never are. Plus they never have grown as large as they're supposed to; but they are mighty tasty, which is the important part!
Congrats on your varied harvest :)
Is that a very nice looking red pepper I see. :) Nice looking harvest!
ReplyDeleteI think the carrots look awesome - and weird ;)
ReplyDeleteI heard that clumps in the soil cause them to do that - but I'm not sure what to do against it. Some mention not turning the soil, but perhaps it has to do with the quality and texture of compost added to the soil... you might want to experiment next year ;)
I have just as much luck with carrots, although haven't had a full hand like that LOL!
ReplyDeleteNice carrot :> I always had trouble growing carrots in my old clay soil. I'm hoping the new soil is better and they will grow long and straight. I'm not holding my breath though.
ReplyDeleteThose carrots are so cool! They look like something out of Harry Potter.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! You could paint that carrot black and make a really cool Halloween decoration.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with those pretty yellow peppers. What kind are they?
Wow, that carrot is kinda creepy looking. It would make an interesting Halloween decoration.
