The award for the slowest plant in the garden

The eggplant has finally started to flower! I planted 8 eggplant plants in the spring and they have been growing at a snails place. They have been taking their sweet ole time. When I saw some of the plants flowering, I was smiling from ear to ear.

Not all the plants are doing well though. This one is so small still. It literally has not grown at all since I put it in the ground. Not sure what's going on with it.

  2. meems, eggplant likes really warm soil, so be sure not to plant too early in the spring. dont know if you did, but i thought of that.

  3. I started my eggplant seeds in March, set them out in May, in big black pots, in the sunniest part of the garden, and watched them grow big and beautiful and full of blossoms. But not a single eggplant showed up until last week, now they are loaded!

  4. Hope your eggplants cooperate and give you lots and lots of goodness. The weather seems to be very weird this year and is effecting everything. Good luck!

  5. That's wonderful , how exciting. I'm thinking of trying this next year although I will have to plant it in the greenhouse to ensure a crop.

  8. I love the look of eggplant flowers. As for your tiny one, maybe you should dig it up and see what's up with the roots. It sounds like it probably won't do much anyway. Glad you'll be getting some eggplant soon!

  9. I was going to suggest digging it up too. A long time ago I had either peppers or tomatoes that weren't doing anything. When I dug them up I discovered totally dry root ball with peat moss all around it. Once I loosened the roots and gave it a good drink of water it started growing. At least the rest of them are doing well.
