What's Wrong With This Picture?

This is our peach tree. Can you see what's wrong with this photo?  Take a good look.
Here's a closeup of the tree.  See it now?  If you can't tell, check out what the tree used to look like here.
Give up?  I'll show you a hint.  Note: I didn't take a bite out of this.  We found this on the ground.
Stupid squirrels ate all the peaches off our tree.  And we had at least 30 peaches growing.  ARGH!!!  In efforts to save the last 2 peaches, we put netting all around them.  LOL.  Pathetic, I know, but we have never tasted a ripe peach off this tree yet!  Last year, this happened to our peach tree.
Even though we covered the last two peaches in netting, the very next day, we saw that the last two peaches were gone!  WTF!!  How the squirrels were able to figure there way through the netting and take the remaining peaches, I have no idea.  SO. VERY. ANNOYED!!
I suppose that means no peaches for us at all this year.  I feel like crying.  What a complete bummer.  Do you have a squirrels eating your fruits or vegetables?  How do you prevent them from eating your entire harvest?  Help!!!  I need some serious advice!  My dad keeps telling me about this device that you plug it that makes a low frequency noise to scare away squirrels.  Have you used this before, and does it even work?  Ugh.

Hello Lovely Peaches

The peaches are looking great. They are getting much larger on the tree and it's so exciting!
Just look at these beauties!  They are about the size of golf balls right now.  I wonder when they will be ready to harvest!
I hope I have enough peaches to make jam!  Oooh, peach jam is my favorite!  We've been spraying the tree with organic pesticide every week.  As you can see, the leaves look like swiss cheese from the bugs.  Some of the peaches have also been attacked by bugs.  I just hope the organic pesticide keeps them at bay.  I can't wait to try one of the peaches!

Woot Woot for Peaches

When our peach tree was in bloom last month, I was so happy. It definitely has the prettiest pink blooms. However, the happiness I felt paled in comparison to when I saw these babies. Hell yeah, we have lots and lots of baby peaches developing. Color me excited!
Last year, we lost every single one of our developing peaches to a wind storm. This year I am praying that some of the fruit actual ripen. It would be pure torture to watch these babies grow only to have to lose them all. I'll have to beg the fruit gods to let me taste a least one of these peaches.  Just one.

Brooklyn Dirt & Dreaming of Peaches

Back in February, the hubs and I went to a talk on "dirt". While we were there, we had our photo taken by a writer from Brooklyn Bread.  Brooklyn Bread is a monthly community magazine that features community events.  Our photo made it to the feature on Brooklyn Dirt. We are the last photo, 2nd row right.  Pretty cool.
Here's a look at what's happening in our backyard.  The most exciting thing happening right now is that our peach tree is blooming!  I love the pink blossoms.  It is so pretty!
Here's a look at the whole tree.  The tree is pretty small.  I'm not sure how old it is, since it was here when we moved in over a year ago.  I'm guessing it's a 3-4 year old tree.  Last year we lost all the peaches in a big wind storm.  I'm hoping this year some of the peaches actually get big enough to ripen on the tree.  I hope!
