Beans: Signs of Life.

I love how my bean plants have taken over the home made trellises. I wish they would produce more pole beans! Do you like our owl sitting on the post? (click on photo to bigify) Haha. It's supposed to scare away the birds and other critters. However, we still see birds in the garden. I don't think that owl scares away anything. It is cute though.

I was out watering yesterday and finally saw some signs of life! The pole beans are finally producing again! Hooray! We missed you my sweet haricot verts!

Pole bean plant is really taking over the stick trellis.

I was out in the garden and noticed that the pole beans have really taken over the homemade trellises. You can barely see the branches anymore. Nice! However, the plants have pretty much stopped producing any more beans. (sigh) We didn't get much of a harvest, we only picked a total of 27 beans. I'm thinking the heat may have been an issue with these plants producing so little. The plants look too pretty to pull up, so I'm going to leave them in for now. I have a few new pole bean plants growing on the other side of the garden. They are about 4 inches tall. I'll have to start some more in pots for the fall harvest.

2nd Harvest: Bean + Lettuce

I'm totally behind on blog posts. This happened a few days ago. This was our 2nd harvest so far this season. We actually got one pole bean! Woot Woot! It's very exciting. We also picked a handful of lettuce, Green leaf and arugula is in the mix. The pole beans were off to a slow start because we haven't been getting much sun, but hopefully it will take off soon.
