My husband's dad, the Farmer, sent us a package in the mail earlier this week. I squealed when I saw it! I've been totally drooling over seedling heating mats, but have not wanted to actually buy one since they can be a bit pricey. This one can fit 4 large flats on it. It also works great, within a few days, I noticed the celery started to germinate. Woot Woot!
The first day that we plugged it in, the following morning I found this little guy hanging out on top of the heat mat. Smart kitty! I bet his belly is nice and toasty.
What a thoughtful gift.....and lucky you!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what a difference a little heat makes in germinating. I'm stuck with the top of my Bunn coffeemaker. Tiny space, but it does the job. You're very very lucky!!
A wonderful gift indeed. So now, there will long queue for seeds to warm themselves...
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteTrust a cat to know the best place to curl up...! Now if only you were germinating catnip!
What a great gift!! I never purchased heating mats due to the cost....that's why I built my germinating table. I'm sure that my kit kats would be up there laying on them if they realized that they were warm. You may have to cover your seedlings or they might lay on the warm mat and eat at the same time!!
ReplyDeleteOh, lucky you, Ihave always wanted to try out a heat mat for our seeds.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great gift to receive. My seeds (and my cat) hang out on top of our radiators.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! A Kitty Kozy ;-)
ReplyDeleteOoo, I have a bit of heating mat envy. I've always wanted one as well but, like many others, have balked due to the price. I do have an ancient heating cable that I snake through my pots when I start most of my seeds. And I have all my seedlings on a wire rack shelf that the cats don't like to walk on- it saves them from kitties that want to get toasty warm and/or have a leafy snack.

awe, you're such a good kitty mama getting that mat for your kitty, rofl...that would be mine if I had one too...only, I have 3 cats, a golden retriever, and a rat terrier who'd all be fighting over who got to lay where. rofl that's adorable, thanks for sharing that funny little story. I was looking at heating mats on Amazon the other day, might break down and get me one.
ReplyDeleteAwesome gift!! You're gonna LOVE the heating mat! It makes seeds germinate so quickly! I'm chuckling at your smart kitty!! Luckily it's a big mat!
ReplyDeleteYour father-in-law totally rocks! What a thoughtful gift. The heat will jump start your tomato and pepper germination especially. In the mean time keep the kitty warm :)
ReplyDeleteOh what a thoughtful gift. He knows what you like...I love your kitty on the pad. I swear if there's a warm spot they are goisng to find it!!! Love this post.
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent gift! I literally laughed out loud when I saw that cat sitting on it! Definitely smart. I have drooled over them too, but it all seems to add up so quickly price-wise that we haven't made that purchase... just means we wait longer for things to get started! Congrats on such a great gift!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous! My heating mat only fits the one tray... Kitty's cute!
