The hibiscus is putting on a show. I love this plant! When it flowers, it really puts on a display. I was so worried about this plant when it was indoors over the winter, it was plagued with aphids. It has bounced back so well! It grew all new leaves and not it's flowering! Woohoo! One of the great things about hibiscus, is that this plant will flower all summer long, like it did for us last year. It really is such a beauty!

Hibiscus Bouncing Back
I finally see leaves coming back to the hibiscus plant. It lost most of it's leaves over the winter when I had it indoors, and aphids overtook the plant. Since the plant was indoors, I aggressively sprayed in with Eco-Smart organic pesticide. It killed all the aphids, but the poor plant dropped a lot of it's leaves because of it. As soon as the weather warmed up, I brought the hibiscus back out to the patio. Since then it has slowly grown back some of it's leaves again!
Here's a bird's eye view of it. I'm so happy that this plant bounced back. Aphids are nasty little buggers.
I also spied some flower buds forming. I hope this plant puts on a show like it did last year. Last year, it bloomed a flower every day. Just gorgeous! I love hibiscus plants, but I must say, they are a bit high maintenance. They have to be watered every day, sprayed occasionally for aphids, and brought inside every winter. But the pretty blooms really make up for all the work involved. Too bad the blooms only last one day!

Showing Signs of Life
Last month, I wrote about how my hibiscus was in distress, her leaves were turning yellow and she was dropping them left and right. I discovered that where she was in the front porch was too cold and she wasn't very happy. So I moved the hibiscus to my kitchen and she's coming back to life! I saw that little leaves were growing back.
Here is a closeup, see the little green leaves? Hooray!
I spoke to Grammie and she said her 6 year old hibiscus goes dormant every winter and it's typical for it to drop leaves. She said it was nothing to worry about. Phew! I feel so relieved that she's bouncing back.

I'm So Worried...
A few posts back, I wrote about poor Miss Hibiscus not liking the cold front enclosed porch. She was all droopy and sad, so I moved her to the warm dining room. At first, she was doing great, she liked the warmth and her leaves perked right up and she wasn't droopy anymore. Then yesterday, I noticed the following. Her leaves are turning yellow! (SIGH) What the @#$%&#! I have no idea what's going on with fickle Miss Hibiscus. At first, I thought maybe I was over watering the plant. However, when I touched the soil, it was not over watered or dry. So I thought perhaps she wasn't getting enough sun. It's not "sunny" in the dining room, but it is bright. I decided to move her into the kitchen where it gets morning sun. Do you have any ideas what may be happening, what is causing the leaves to turn yellow? I'm so worried that this plant will kick the bucket. Argh!

The best $7.50 I ever spent!
I just realized that I haven't been posting anything about our flowers lately. Here's our lovely hot pink hibiscus in our lime green container pot. Isn't it pretty? I bought this plant at Home Depot because I had a buy one get one coupon offer. So I bought one for my mom, her's is coral colored and the hot pink one for myself! I got 2 plants for $15! Talk about score! Ever since I brought this baby home, it has constantly bloomed every week! The flowers are just gorgeous. The only thing I wish was that the blooms lasted more than one day! But since they bloom so often, I almost don't mind. Well, almost!
