This week, we saw lots of red in the garden! Jackpot! We started picking away. Unfortunately, about a dozen of these beauties had blossom end rot, which is a major bummer. But we did get some good ones.
Here's our harvest! These tomatos were perfect Roma size and not scarred at all. We gave this harvest to our neighbors who generously gave my hubby some 2 by 4s that he didn't need. He saw hubby making a garden tool bench for me, and thought we could use the extra wood! Nice neighbors!
Your veggies look great! I'm beginning to wonder if we'll ever have any in our garden this year. I bet your neighbors appreciated your produce as much as you appreciated the wood.
ReplyDeleteOh, hold on to that wood. It may come in handy sometime. Great trade and your veggies look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to share! Congrats on your harvest.
ReplyDeletewhat nice neighbors! your veggies look great.
ReplyDeleteoh, you are such a good egg for giving away your harvest. but nothing beats a good neighbor. your Romas look so good! i just want to make some sauce just looking at them. happy gardening :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely exchange. You are a gardener & neighbour who deserves an excellent harvest. (I believe in garden karma.)
ReplyDeleteI have my first tomatoes too! Sorry about the blossom end rot - I hope you get a lot before it gets too bad :(
ReplyDeleteThat's so nice to share your harvest with your neighbors. Our neighbor gave us his first cayenne pepper last week. We returned the favor by giving him a pot planted with some oregano. Our oregano in the ground is growing so well that you can almost just rip out a stem (no need to worry about protecting the roots or anything), stick it in some dirt, and soon enough it will send up all kinds of new baby oregano shoots and leaves to fill up a whole container. Anyway, I digress. Hope you get lots more tomatoes out of those plants - the tomatoes look great!
ReplyDeleteHey, I saw the second comment you left me, and I replied, explaining a bit more about my oregano. I didn't know if you subscribe to comment threads, so I came back here to let you know that I replied to your comment in my post. I usually subscribe to every post that I comment on, so I can keep up with any responses, but I know that not everyone does. These back and forth comments across blogs get kind of confusing sometimes, especially on Harvest Mondays!
ReplyDeleteI wish my DH would make me something. I've got to buy it or make it myself.
ReplyDeleteTomato time, yippee! Your harvest looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to have such great neighbors, and vice versa, good neighbors are a precious thing.
Nice harvest, I have lots of BER on my roma tomato plant, I threw away more than I harvested, but it's getting a bit better, I heard if you keep picking off the BER fruits, the next batch will have less or no BER.
ReplyDeleteYum!!! It all looks so good!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Red in the garden!! It's what I look for long before it starts happening.
