Dad's Garden: Part 2
A few days ago, we went to visit mom and dad to help them clean their gutters and to have a barbeque. My dad is 67, and the hubs and I don't like the fact that he wants to climb a 22 foot ladder to clean his gutters. So we do it for him. Dad was at work when we were working on the gutters. When he came home, he ushered us into the garden to show us the Mao Qwa squash or hairy gourd. We saw them beginning to grow in July. Look at it now! I put a hand trowel next to it for comparison. This is one big squash!! So big that he had a bucket underneath it supporting it's weight. Dad gave me one to take home and told me how to make soup out of it. I just smiled because soup is the last thing I want to make in this heat. It was 97F yesterday! LOL.
