Christmas Presents for Gardeners: Part 3

My husband is a good listener.  I told him that I really wanted gardening markers and for Christmas, he surprised me with the Magnetic Poetry Make Your Own Poetry Stones Deluxe Kit!
I struggled this past summer trying to label things in the garden, and it was a complete mess!  The problem was that I made the markers out of strips of wood, and well, the natural elements of rain and sun ruined them.  So I cannot wait to make these more permanent stone markers!

I opened the box and it looks ah-mazing!  Okay readers, once I learn how to do this, I'm going to do a giveaway for someone to win stone markers that I'll make for them for their garden.  Stay tuned!

  3. That is a GREAT gift! Can't wait to see how they turn out! I might try my hand at creating something like that. Here's a suggestion/piece of information: If you are going to use a bag of sackrete or something, that's fine. If I make them, I'm going to use a typical cement mix recipe, but instead of plain cement, I'm going to use "white Portland cement". It is as white as flour! I made a gravestone for our dog Nicky, a Silky Terrier that shared our lives for 18 years. That's been about 20 years ago, and the gravestone is still white. For that matter, I understand there is cement coloring available now. Check it out before you make yours and see which you like best.

  4. What an awesome gift hubs gave you! that is so neat its all in the box even the trowel! I made a few with handprints using plant trays, boxes and concrete mix. They turned out nice to give to grandparents for their garden. I also cut up old miniblinds into 12" garden stakes and use a sharpie to write whats planted there, but its a pain to pull them all out each spring before I rototill the garden!

  7. Have fun! The gals on the news just told us there should be enough snow for everyone to make snowmen with. I'm hoping for a nice winter blanket for my plants.
