Garage Renovation: Part 3

We were so fortunate to have good weather this past week.  We only had one day of rain where work had to stop.  After the trusses were all installed, the men (the hubs and his dad) moved onto adding the roof.  Plywood was added and then we decided to spend the extra money to install an ice and water shield so that it would be storm proof.  No leaks or holes in this roof! After the roof shield was installed, the roof was water tight and then the roof shingles were added.
Doesn't the new roof look awesome?
Then they moved onto installing the new garage door.  Here you can see the inside of the building and all the old framing and walls are still there, only more stable with all the new beams holding it up.
Here it is, with new exterior walls, new roof, and new garage door!  Next up, siding!!
More photos to come!

  2. I love your garage. My husband made doors for my new garden lean-to shed. The plywood has been tar-papered, and I have hopes that we will actually put some siding on it. In the spring. I think we have run out of steam.

  7. What an amazing transformation! Our garage looks like that on the inside, only is in OK shape.

I know what you mean about zoning issues. When we wanted to have our flimsy shed taken down and a new one built, we were not allowed to because anything newly built on a corner lot has to be even with the houses on either side of us. Well, the people on either side of us have huge back yards, and we don't. We hired a guy to tear the walls down one at a time and put new ones up, keeping the same roof.

If our house would burn down, we would not be allowed to rebuild unless there would be some kind of exception we could fall back on.

I hope the rest of the work goes as smoothly as that so far seems to have.

  9. I would love to do something like this with our shed! Uh, it is a mess, not quite as much as yours was! But yours is looking much better!

  10. It's amazing that you've been able to save it. I wish my hubby was handy like that. There are so many things I would have him doing.

  11. It's always such a pleasure to watch someone who knows what they're doing (be it construction, gardening, plumbing, etc.). They are like musicians making all the tools play the same song. They make it look so easy but you know it's taken years to get that savvy. Can't wait to see more pics of this exciting rebuild!
